1. Delete Your Account in the App
The quickest way to delete your account is from your account settings. This works the same way on the website and in the MathsTutor mobile app:
- Sign in to your MathsTutor account
- Open Settings — on the website this is in the profile menu in the top corner; in the mobile app, open the Profile tab and select Settings
- Scroll to the Danger Zone and select Delete Account
- Read the warning, then type DELETE in the confirmation box
- Select Permanently Delete My Account
Your account and its data are removed immediately, you are signed out, and the account cannot be recovered afterwards. For quick access, you can go straight to your settings page (you will be asked to sign in first).
Note for administrator accounts: administrator accounts cannot be self-deleted for security reasons. If you hold an administrator account and want it removed, please contact us by email as described below.
2. Request Deletion by Email
If you are unable to sign in — for example you have lost access to your email or password — you can still ask us to delete your account and data. Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject line “Account deletion request”.
So that we can verify the request and delete the correct account, please include:
- The email address you use to sign in to MathsTutor
- Whether it is a parent or student account
- Confirmation that you want the account and its data permanently deleted
We will confirm your identity, action the deletion, and reply to confirm it is done. We aim to respond within a few days and to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days, in line with our Privacy Policy and your right to erasure under UK GDPR.
3. Deleting a Child's Account
MathsTutor is designed for children aged 5 to 16, and children's accounts are managed by a parent or guardian through our family linking feature. As a parent, you can:
- Delete your own parent account from Settings, as described in section 1. When you delete a parent account, your linked children's accounts are not automatically deleted — they are unlinked from your family. If you also want a child's account removed, delete it separately or ask us by email
- Request deletion of a child's account at any time by emailing [email protected] from the parent email address on the family account, telling us which child's account you would like removed
As the child's parent or guardian, you may exercise the right to erasure on your child's behalf.
4. What Data Is Deleted
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the personal data associated with it, including:
- Your account details — name, email address, and sign-in credentials
- Your learning data — exercise responses, scores, and completion times
- Your progress data — lessons completed, difficulty levels, and key stages studied
- Your gamification data — XP, badges, streaks, and levels
- Your settings and preferences
- Family links connecting the account to other members of your family
We also remove your contact details from our marketing email provider so you stop receiving any further communications.
5. What We Keep, and Why
We delete verified accounts within 30 days. A small amount of information may be kept for longer where the law requires it or where it no longer identifies you:
- Payment and invoice records — retained for as long as required by UK tax and accounting law (up to 7 years). These are held by us and our payment processor, Stripe, and are kept separately from your learning account
- Anonymised statistics — aggregated usage data that no longer identifies you may be retained to help us understand and improve the service
For full details of how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Subscriptions and Refunds
If you have an active premium subscription, deleting your account also ends that subscription. If you would rather keep your account and progress but stop paying, you can cancel your subscription from your account settings instead — your access continues until the end of the current billing period and does not renew.
Refund eligibility is set out in our Terms of Service. Deleting your account does not by itself entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid.
7. Contact Us
If you have any questions about deleting your account or your data, or need help with a deletion request, please contact us:

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
